Hi Florian. Silly question, I'm sure, but I cannot find those charts on the CFTC site, so I assume that you rendered the charts based on the data the Trading Commission provides. Is that so?
Another great note! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. One question: I understand why you think safe haven assets (gold, Swiss franc) may rally. It seems that you may be including bitcoin in the safe haven category. Common criticisms of bitcoin include its lack of any intrinsic value and its use (at least to date) as primarily an instrument for pure speculation. How do you see bitcoin overcoming these deficiencies?
Well Bitcoin and gold are very similar, they have finite supply and no yield. Gold has a much longer track record, Bitcoin has the allure of being futuristic. I do not think their investor base overlaps a lot. It is TBD if Bitcoin will be the safe haven its characteristics ascribe to it. Maybe.
Love the posts. They are a really concise overview over your macro viewpoints, supported by data, really, really helpful for an amateur investor like me who follows markets in their sparse free time. Your work is much appreciated!
Great work! A challenge to your view if I may. BofA survey cash level is very high. BofA Bull Bear indicator is "extreme bearish". GS MS prime book says fast money clients are adding short. NAAIM exposure index is near year low. All above says positions and sentiments are bearish already, which may turn out support equity. What do you think? Thanks.
One of the best pieces of work I have read lately.
Great to add your perspective into my thinking.
Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure. Most appreciated!
